Flying High Weekly SSCO News Update

5th January 2009

Primary & Secondary

  Happy New Year

Welcome back and I hope you had a great Christmas with plenty of rest, no doubt a little over indulgence but I’m as you will all be advocating the 5 hour offer I’m sure you will work it off in no time.

Celebration Night

The School Sport Partnership celebration night  will take place on the 24th June 2010 so please save the date and tell your heads and heads of department, formal invites will be sent out in March.

Active Mark & Sports Mark

Just to update on the position of both Active and Sports Mark awards.  Those schools who got awarded this last year will keep this for 2009-10.  No new awards have been given this year as the criteria is being reviewed and will be in place for next year, I will keep you updated when the information is released.

Cheerleading

Please find attached instructor training for  a Cheerleading Level 2 award which is being run at Rossington All Saints on the 10th January.

Lloyds TSB Sports Week

Registration is now open for Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week which takes place between 28 June and 2 July 2010. Make sure you save the date and sign your school up to take part at www.schoolsportweek.org .

Mini PESSYP

All schools across Doncaster are required to complete a mini PESSYP questionnaire by the 12th February.  Only 4 questions from the full survey have been selected to enable the SSP team to identify any gaps which need addressing before the full survey is released in March, hopefully by doing this it will help us to iron out any issues completing the survey to get it right before the official submission deadline.  This will be discussed in your PLT meetings.

Orienteering

Free Orienteering training funded by Flying High will take place on the 26th March at Rossington Pheasant Bank.  There are only 15 places and last years course filled up quickly.  Please see attached poster for further details, if you would like to book onto the course please email h.daws@theallsaints.net or call 01302 868414 ext 284.

Skipping workshop

The workshop is run by the British Heart Foundation.
We would like to follow up the initial workshop with a summer mass
skipping event involving young leaders and their skippers.

If you are interested in bringing your CSLs to the workshop please
contact Gerard asap with numbers - if you are all so keen that we can't accommodate you all we will investigate the possibility of a second workshop.
