Campsmount Pyramid Sportshall Athletics Final 2010
On Friday 22nd January, both of the Campsmount Pyramid Schools attended our annual Campsmount Pyramid Sports-hall athletics final. However, due to the drastic fire which had destroyed much of our school prior to the Christmas holidays we had to change our venue to Rossington All Saints College.
Rossington kindly allowed our school to join their competition and compete against their 2 feeder schools to increase the competition, however, running two separate pyramid competitions alongside each other at the same time.
Both schools had obviously put in lots of practice prior to the competition and this was evident from the standard that was displayed. Both in the track and field events it was evident that we have got some very good talented athletes soon to come up to Campsmount Technology College.
Last year saw Norton Junior School take the title in a close competition, however this year the tables were turned and it was Askern Spa Junior Schools turn to become champions of this competition. However, Askern Spa Juniors not only became winners of the Pyramid competition, they came first place out of all the schools taking part, scoring a staggering 340 points. It was very evident that this school had put in some fantastic hard work and dedication to practice prior to the competition. Derryn Whitely, Askern Spa’s Primary Link Teacher had a lot of praise for one of the schools volunteers Arthur McAdam, who had been working with the young athletes during lunch times and after school practices.
This was a fantastic performance from Askern Spa Junior School and I wish them all the very best of luck in the Flying High Finals in a few weeks time. We would also like to thank Rossington All Saints College for allowing us to join their competition, as we would not have been able to participate if it wasn’t for them organising the whole event at their school, so thank you once again for this!
