Joint Pyramid Festival Update 2010
Since last writing articles for the website, the Campsmount Pyramid have paired up with the Don Valley Pyramid to host a whole range of varying festivals for their cluster of schools across the Key Stages 1 & 2.
The reason for this collaboration is due to our Pyramid only having 2 junior schools that fall under the Campsmount Pyramid umbrella and our team wanted to give our students a larger range of competition. Whereas Don Valley who are only a short distance away from ourselves have 7 Junior Schools, so, it was a wise decision we felt to join forces to offer more sporting opportunities for our young people.
High 5 Netball, Sportshall Athletics, Rounders, Cricket, Football and Dance have all been arranged for the different schools. The Campsmount and Don Valley Leadership Academies have assisted in delivering these festivals, taking part in the organisation and running of them, including coaching and officiating the students at each festival.
We feel this has been a huge success and the partnership between the two School Sport Co-ordinators has developed immensely, whereby we now have a great working relationship. We have planned the same again for the up and coming academic year and have just completed our first Football Festivals for Girls and Boys. The girls’ competition took place at Bentley New Village School, where we had a fun round robin tournament that lasted the whole afternoon, where the girls had an opportunity to showcase their fabulous football skills.
A great move forward in developing competitions for our young people!
