KS1 Virtual Competitions

Children celebrating success
Children taking part

Norton Infant School’s virtual multi-skills competition took place on Friday 20 March at 9.15am.  The children were excited and eager to participate; the Teaching Assistants were ready and waiting at each event station.

Year 1 and 2 children enthusiastically completed each event and were obviously enjoying themselves.  The results were eagerly anticipated as we all awaited the afternoon award ceremony.  We celebrated everyone’s achievements and the coveted prizes were awarded – T-shirts, water bottles, pencils etc.  Some children even received 2 or 3 prizes, demonstrating a talent in many skills.  Who knows, maybe we have some budding Olympic Champions?

On Monday 23rd March 2009, the children at Moss Road took part in a virtual multi-skills competition where we competed against other schools in Doncaster.

All the children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 took part. The competition was aimed at improving and developing the students’ skills in agility, balance and coordination in a fun and inclusive way.

The children were asked to be sponsored for each activity they managed to complete. Nursery also held their own version of the competition.

Leading up to the competition, the children enjoyed practising the different activities and skills. On the morning of the competition, the children were spilt into teams and they visited the 6 different activities: Mini Speed Bounce, Side to Side, Target Throw, Shuttle Run, Leg Stands and Ball Shuffle.

All the children enjoyed participating and had lots of fun. It was lovely to see the children encouraging and supporting their team mates. The favourite activity voted by the children was the Ball Shuffle – ‘we look like penguins waddling’.
