Norton Juniors Out of School Hours Clubs
Since January this year
Norton
Junior
School has launched a new out of school hours learning club during extra-curricular time for students in years 3 & 4. Each half term the children have had the opportunity to learn the skills and tactics of a different team game. As this club has been running simultaneously with Askern Spa, at the end of each half term this has resulted in a competition between the 2 schools. Following the 6 week training sessions, 2 teams were selected from each school to compete.
In spring 1, 5 a side Football was the focus, with
Norton
Junior
School winning the competition in a very exciting and tense match. This was followed with the second of our clubs focusing on High 5 Netball. In the Summer term, Kwik Cricket was delivered and the final club was Rounders.
This has been an excellent way to introduce children in lower school to a wide range of team games and skills, as well as letting them compete competitively for their school. Feedback from the children involved has been very positive. The matches were great to watch and gave the children the opportunity to not only play competitively, but to learn new skills and work as part of a team.
