18 11 09 Trinity Family of Primary Schools' Sports hall Athletics
Venue: TrinityAcademy sports hall
Date: 18.11.09
Time: 2:30-4:00
Schools: Brooke, Green Top, King Edward, Marshland.
Apologies: West Road, staff meeting from 3:15.
Was torrential rain going to dampen determination and dreams of glory?
TA mini buses with Mr Potts and Mr Marks driving to the rescue! All arrived dry-ish and ready for action:
80 Y6 pupils, 8 primary school staff, 22 Y12/13 CSL pupils, 4 TA staff =
big noise, maximum effort and teamwork, teamwork, teamwork!!
1:30pm had seen 10 CSL pupils setting out the events, checking safety and welcoming early contestants!
2:30 saw the competition start with a warm up led by 2 Y12 CSL coaches, then Y6 pupils were quickly involved in girls’ ‘field’ events and boys’ running events with all athletes striving to improve their personal bests. Then a ‘half-time’ changeover and more hard work and team spirit.
Mr Potts, TA PE HoD, praised the enthusiasm and effort that he had seen during the afternoon and added that this year saw the closest ever final scores:
4th place Marshland with 148 points
3rd place King Edward with 169 points
2nd place Brooke with 177 points
1st place Green Top with 178 points
Mr Potts presented the trophy to GreenTopPrimary School, who will represent our pyramid in the 2nd round at the Dome in February.
Well done to all the pupils and staff who made the event so successful.
Many thanks to Mr Potts for rearranging the TA PE timetable to make the sports hall available for the primary schools
