19 5 10 Trinity Family of Primary Schools' Cricket Festival.
19.5.10 -Trinity Family of Primary Schools Cricket Festival
Venue: Trinity Academy Astroturf
Date: 19.5.10
Time: 2:00-3:30
Pupils: Y3/4 (50 pupils)
Coaches: TA CSL pupils (10 pupils)
Schools attending: Marshland, Brooke, King Edward, West Road and Green Top.
It all started back in November when 9 TA pupils qualified as level 1 cricket coaches. Then in March the Y3/4 staff attended the teachers’ cricket coaching course. This was followed by four weeks of coaching for the Y3/4 pupils delivered by the TA 6th form coaches, closely supervised by the now very knowledgeable Y3/4 staff!
So, next we needed a festival to further practise and hone those striking and fielding skills – throwing, catching, fielding, batting and bowling skills were coached. These were followed by small sided games of continuous cricket which were enjoyed by all.
It was good to see the effort and enthusiasm shown by both the pupils being coached and those practising their coaching skills.
Many thanks to the TA CSL coaches for their volunteered time, Mr Potts for vacating the Astroturf, Mrs Taylor for driving the mini bus and all the staff and pupils for attending so enthusiastically.
What we now need is a cricket tournament…anyone know of a local cricket club?!
