Flying High School Sport Partnership will become the first SSP in the country to use and develop an Actiped programme.

Actipeds are an all-day activity-monitoring device that mounts on footwear. The ActiPed utilizes new technology accurately track steps, calories burned, distance traveled and activity time. It tracks this data in 20-minute increments throughout the day so users can see patterns and make the small changes that add up to a more active and healthy lifestyle.

The ActiPed is very easy to use — just clip it on a shoe and go! No buttons to press or cables to connect. The sensor collects and stores between 14 and 30 days of all-day activity data and will offload this data anytime it comes within range of a wireless access point.

The partnership will begin using this technology with St Mary's and St Peters Catholic Schools to look at activity patterns within years 3 and 4. This information will give both schools a greater understanding of what activity young people in their schools are doing but will also make part of an inter school competition.

Both schools will have the system for 4 days, in this time the 30 young people selected will have to cover as much distance as possible. The school which covers the most kilometers will become Doncaster's First Actiped Champions!

Good Luck to both schools and watch out for Actiped's coming to your school!
