From August 2011 funding for the national network of School Sport Partnerships is being cut by Government resulting in events such as the Playground to Podium Ability Days and over 170 competitions per year for 21,000 pupils aged 5-19 from across Doncaster having to be cancelled as the staffing structure and finance to support schools will disappear.
Rosie Winterton MP attended to present Doncaster School Sport Partnerships with a Youth Sport Trust Regional Award won for “Innovation in Developing a Diverse Group of Young People as Leaders and Volunteers in Sport” along with meeting the Partnerships Young Ambassadors to discuss the impact that Physical Education and School Sport has had on their lives and those of other young people across Doncaster.
