St Marys SY Hockey Champions!

Year 5/6 students from St Mary's school have been crowned the best in the county.

St Mary's Catholic Primary sent their successful team, made up of Year 5 and 6 pupils, to the South Yorkshire Finals after they triumphed in the Flying High SSP Hockey Finals at the Keepmoat Stadium in November.

Victory put St Mary's into the county finals at Doncaster Hockey Club's Town Fields ground - and again they proved their quality.

Four other teams from around the region, including Intake's Plover Primary School, contested the competition but it was the Edlington youngsters who lifted the winner's shield.

Each side played all the other teams once in a round robin system, with
the side totalling the most points clinching the county title.

A big thank you needs to go to all the staff and inparticular Doncaster Hockey Club for their fantastic coaching and venue! Lets hope a Doncaster School can take the title next year!
