Parkour Teaching Resource

"Parkour focuses on developing the fundamental attributes required for movement, which include balance, strength, dynamism, endurance, precision, spatial awareness and creative vision. It is a way of training one's body and mind in order to be as completely functional, effective and liberated as possible in the physical realm, and a way of thinking based on rigorous self discipline, autonomous action and self will." Parkour UK (www.parkouruk.org)

This scheme of work is designed to support the safe teaching and learning of Parkour related activities within the context of the revised KS3-KS4 Physical Education National Curriculum.  The tasks are planned to take place indoors only and involve the use of traditional gymnastic apparatus, but the Parkour aim of utilising efficient and controlled movement to overcome or negotiate obstacles is retained.

The scheme includes a CD ROM detailing

  • development, intermediate and advanced modules each consisting of three core tasks.
  • Parkour agilities differentiated into three progressive levels.
  • Safety guidlines an example of a Parkour risk assessment
  • Assessment for Learning criteria and recording model.
  • visual examples of students performing Parkour related agilities.
